Ryokō is an iOS application that helps you track your travels, translate languages, convert currencies, and manage visa requirements. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is processed, and your privacy choices.

Data Collection Summary

Ryokō processes the following types of data:

• Passport Information: Nationality and passport details you enter (stored locally on your device)
• Travel History: Countries you've visited or want to visit (stored locally)
• Trip Itineraries: Trip plans you create (stored locally)
• Translation Text: Text you translate (processed on-device with Apple Intelligence)
• Currency Preferences: Your preferred currency pairs (stored locally)

Ryokō does not collect personal information such as your name, email, location tracking, or device identifiers for analytics purposes.

On-Device Processing

Ryokō prioritizes your privacy by keeping your data on your device:

• Translation: Powered by Apple Intelligence, translation happens entirely on your device. Your text is never sent to external servers.
• Travel Data: All passport information, travel history, and trip itineraries are stored locally using Core Data and never transmitted.
• Preferences: App settings and preferences are stored locally on your device.

Network Requests

Ryokō makes limited network requests for the following purposes:

• Currency Exchange Rates: Live exchange rates are fetched from currency data providers. No personal information is sent with these requests.
• Visa Requirements: Visa requirement data may be fetched or updated. Only your passport's country of origin is used to determine requirements.

These requests do not include any personally identifiable information.

Data Storage

All user data is stored locally on your device:

• Data is stored using Apple's Core Data framework
• Data may sync across your devices via iCloud if you have iCloud enabled
• Ryokō does not operate any servers that store your personal data

iCloud Sync

If you have iCloud enabled, your Ryokō data may sync across your Apple devices. This sync is handled entirely by Apple's iCloud infrastructure and is subject to Apple's privacy policy. You can disable iCloud sync for Ryokō in your device's Settings.

Third-Party Services

Ryokō uses the following third-party services:

• Apple Intelligence: For on-device translation (no data leaves your device)
• Currency Data Providers: For exchange rate information (no personal data shared)

Ryokō does not use analytics services, advertising networks, or crash reporting tools that track your behavior.

Data Retention

• Travel data: Retained until you delete it or uninstall the app
• Passport information: Retained until you delete it or uninstall the app
• Preferences: Retained until you change them or uninstall the app
• Translation history: Not retained (processed in real-time only)

Your Privacy Choices

• Delete your data: You can delete all your data by uninstalling the app or using the app's data management features
• Disable iCloud sync: Turn off iCloud sync for Ryokō in Settings > Apple ID > iCloud
• Limit network access: The app will function with limited features if network access is restricted

Children's Privacy

Ryokō does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is intended for general audiences planning travel.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when changes are made.
